FARGO - Grant’s Mechanical is building itself a new headquarters in Fargo’s northside industrial park.
Construction is underway for a $4.5 million building at 5513 14th Ave. N.
The structural steel for the center bay of the 39,000-square-foot building started to go up Monday, Feb. 16.
Company President Blake Wrigley said the new building is designed to “make things flow a little better” and provide room for the company to grow.
“We’re looking toward the future,” Wrigley said late Friday, Feb. 21. “It was time to upgrade and go to something new. I just purchased Grant’s two years ago. I figured it was time to do it right away.”
Wrigley and his brother and sister purchased the company in March 2018.
The construction timeline calls for the building to be ready for occupation in July or August of this year.
“We’re really excited about it,” he said.

Grant’s is now at 3239 15th St. S., Fargo, in an area surrounded by housing, making it sometimes difficult to get large trucks in and out, Wrigley said.
The new location will improve logistics by making freight-handling easier and bringing the company closer to warehouses, he said.
Grant’s is a full-service commercial and industrial design company for construction and service and maintenance of mechanical systems. That includes working with sheet metal, pipefitting, plumbing, HVAC systems and as millwrights (moving, assembling and installing machinery).
The company employs about 80 people.
The area is growing, which puts a premium on skilled workers, he said.
“The No. 1 thing is finding good tradespeople to do the jobs,” said Wrigley, who said he’s “always looking” for skilled workers.
