FARGO – TEDxFargo announced Friday, Sept. 11, it is cancelling all further events in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic.
“The TEDxFargo team, in conjunction with our Advisory Board, has made the decision to no longer host TEDxFargo events in 2020,” according to press notes. “We are grateful for our Advisory Board, volunteers, and team for their support over the past 2020 events season. We are also grateful for the guidance and patience of individuals so dedicated to our mission and vision of ideas worth spreading in Fargo.”
The popular motivational talks have become a staple of the local business community. But, with the onset of the pandemic, organizers were forced to rethink how those events were being delivered. As early as July, TEDxFargo decided to put safety measures in place to help prevent the spread of the coronavirus, including outdoor venues, limited seating capacity, and drive-in screenings.
Those plans kept getting delayed, notably the kick-off of the local Beyond Series, which was slated to happen July 9 at the patio of Fort Noks Bar of Gold in downtown Fargo.
The local team vowed it won’t exactly go totally silent.
“We're going to continue being active on social media, sharing past TEDxFargo talks, and accelerating ideas,” according to press notes. “We're confident that, once the dust settles, our community will once again have space for TEDxFargo events.”
