FARGO - Gallery 4, an artists’ cooperative that has operated in the downtown Black Building more more than 15 years, is moving west a block or so to the location being vacated by BernBaum’s deli and Mid Mod Madhaus at 115 Roberts Street.
“This is an exciting space for us to be in,” Gallery 4 President Dennis Krull said Thursday, Jan. 24. “Our new space is larger and its amenities will allow us to engage with our customers, tourists and the community in a really fun way.”
The new gallery space and Made In Fargo gift shop will now have a stage and small kitchen that will allow the business to host classes, performances and events geared around the work of the more than dozen artist members.
Gallery 4 will close its doors at its Black Building location at 5 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26.
Gallery 4 celebrates its 44th year in business this year. Remaining in the downtown area was an important factor in the search for a new home for the gallery.
“We’ve been a business in the Downtown area for over 20 years,” Gallery 4 Vice President Scott Seiler said. “We are very excited to announce our new home and we’re excited to continue growing alongside downtown Fargo.”
Krull said Gallery 4 is “hoping to add more emerging and experienced artists to our group and we invite anyone interested to reach out and apply.”
An application to join Gallery 4 as a contributing artist can be found on the gallery’s website at Gallery4Fargo.net. The gallery has tentatively set its grand opening in their new location for March 1.
The owner of Mid Mod Madhaus said the antiques and furniture store is being closed permanently Saturday, Jan. 26.
The co-owners of BernBaum's said Friday, Jan. 25, that the downtown deli will be moving to the restaurant space in The 400 building, also known as the Powers Hotel, on Broadway. The exterior of the restaurant area is now being refurbished, a representative of the management company said Friday.
