MOORHEAD -- Nikki Berglund and Ryan Nitschke, partners in Luna Fargo, have met their fundraising goal for a second restaurant in Moorhead.
The partners launched a $75,000 Kickstarter campaign in December, asking for the community's help in opening a new restaurant, Sol Ave. Kitchen, at 1408 First Ave. N.
Berglund said Kickstarter campaigns are often used in larger markets to fund new restaurants because obtaining traditional funding can be difficult.
"Restaurants are seen as a riskier venture," Berglund explained.
The campaign was fully funded by 213 backers, who will receive thank-you gifts from the partners for their donation. Gifts will range from a high-five and a free cup of coffee for a $5 pledge to free food for life for backers who gave $10,000.
Sol Ave. Kitchen will be located next to Junkyard Brewing. According to its Kickstarter page, it will serve "globally (and thoughtfully) inspired street food with a Midwest twist."
