Fargo - Big changes will soon take shape on the Fargo campus of Dakota Boys and Girls Ranch, located on 70th Avenue South just off University Drive.

Plans call for the building of an addition to the current Dakota Memorial School building.

The new space will incorporate a gymnasium, as well as a nutrition/dining center and a chapel.

Groundbreaking for the project is set for May 14. Also, a fundraising dinner is set for that evening at the Fargo Ramada Plaza & Suites.

The addition, which is expected to cost more than $10 million, is part of the campus’ master plan, which is being addressed as funding for each phase is secured, said Carla Isom, director of marketing and public relations for Dakota Boys and Girls Ranch.

The Fargo campus is home to 16 boys and girls who have issues related to trauma, abuse and neglect, according to Isom.

The campus serves children ages 10 to 18.

In addition to the school, the Fargo location currently houses a treatment center and a youth home.

The new addition is expected to be completed by September 2016.
