WEST FARGO - BC Contracting is building itself a new home.
The company has begun foundation work on a three-story building in the Gateway West Office Park, just west of the Hornbacher’s grocery store in the Gateway West Shopping Center.
“We’re excited to announce the groundbreaking of our NEW HOME, Gateway West Office Park!!” the company announced recently on Facebook.
City records list the address of the 37,712-square-foot building as 2060 Sheyenne St.

A $1.25 million building permit has been issued for the foundation, according to West Fargo records. Grading for the site close to Interstate 94 has been ongoing for a few weeks.
Lauren Orchard, the city’s director for economic development, said a PILOT tax break (a payment in lieu of taxes) is being sought for the building, but that the application hasn’t been processed yet because the price tag of the structure has varied. The PILOT request is expected to be heard in December by an advisory committee to the city commission.
“We are excited to see a headquarters in the Interstate 94 corridor. We are very happy about the type of development being proposed,” Orchard said Wednesday, Nov. 17.

Orchard said the building will be beautiful.
“We’re very excited to see development like this happening in West Fargo,” Orchard said.
BC Contracting said it is leasing space on the first and second floors of the building.

The planned unit development zoning designation, site plan and building review were approved by the City Commission Sept. 20.
Nearly 60 underground parking spaces will be part of the building’s overall parking plan, city records show.
A Phase II building is also being considered, city records indicate, though there is no indication of when that building would be built, or of its size. It would also need approval from the city’s planning and zoning commission and the city commission.
The land is in the process of being sold by Gateway West LLC to BC Contracting, a person familiar with the project said.
BC Contracting officials declined to comment for this article.

BC Contracting is a full-service general contractor that works in multifamily housing construction, commercial construction and development.
The company was was formed by PROffutt Limited Partnership and RHR Construction to meet the rapidly growing demand for contractors following the oil boom in western North Dakota in 2012, the firm's website said.
Its offices are currently at 705 13th Ave. E. in West Fargo.
The company has completed more than 78 projects, worth at least $696 million. They have built more than 5,500 multifamily apartment units and more than 7 million square feet of building space, the firm's website said.
Among the projects the company has led or been part of locally are the RDO office tower and 1001 NP in downtown Fargo, and Mas Tequila and Randy’s Diner Too in West Fargo. The firm is also active in construction in Minnesota, South Dakota, Alabama, Arizona, Colorado, Kansas, Montana, Nebraska, Oregon, Texas and Washington, the website said.
