FARGO-Bell Bank is one of the best banks to work for in America, according to a new list.
American Banker Magazine's fifth annual ranking of 75 financial institutions said Bell Bank had the fifth best banking workplace overall. It also ranked first among nine banks with assets between $3 billion and $10 billion.
The magazine said Bell Bank, which was founded in 1966 and has its headquarters at 3100 13th Ave. S. in Fargo, has 669 employees and $4.4 billion of assets.
A news release from Bell Bank said American Banker referred to its Pay It Forward program as an "unusual approach to winning customers' hearts" while also praising Bell Bank's employee bonuses and employee stock ownership plan.
"The fact that our employees consider Bell Bank a great workplace makes these honors extra special," President and CEO Michael Solberg said in a written statement. "This award reflects how our teams treat each other and our customers."

The magazine's rankings are based on an evaluation of each financial institution's culture, policies and more, as well as employee surveys about their workplaces.
