The "Best Frozen Treats" in town will reopen in spring, as it has at the same location since 1963, but just a little different.

Winner: Tastee-Freez

Location: 410 19th St. S., Moorhead

When it comes to frozen treats there are a lot of choices in the metro area. So it says a lot that the Tastee-Freez in Moorhead gained the most votes to win the Best Frozen Treats title.

Co-owner Jessica Malvin says what makes the Tastee-Freeze special is its history. It’s still in its original walk-up only location.

“We have been in Moorhead since 1963,” Malvin says.

One online reviewer describes Tastee-Freez as “my go-to spot from March until freeze up. Retro, nostalgic, old-school.”

Beginning next season they will open under a new name because they were unable to renew their Tastee-Freez franchise, but in a Forum article from September Malvin said they’ll be back bigger and better than ever under a new name.

"Next year will be the start of my 19th season, so it's going to be the same faces," she says. "A few menu items will change, but for the most part we'll be the same."

Second Place: Dairy Queen

Third Place: The Silver Lining Creamery
