FARGO-Border States Electric reached a construction milestone this week at its $18 million corporate headquarters under construction at 3801 26th Ave. S., near the intersection of Interstate 94 and Interstate 29.
On Wednesday, March 28, CEO Tammy Miller joined employee-owners and construction workers for a "topping out" ceremony in observance of the last steel beam being placed on the structure with a tree and an American flag.
According to a press release, the tree signified that construction has reached the sky without loss of life or injury and a job well done. The flag was a reminder that BSE is an American employee-owned company.
The release also included the following facts about the construction project thus far:
• BSE broke ground on the three-story, 120,000-square-foot facility Aug. 24, 2017

• 30,864 construction hours have been worked without a recordable injury
• 1,955 cubic yards or 200 truckloads of concrete have been poured
• 3,833 pieces of steel weighing 501 tons have been set
In early 2019, approximately 400 branch support center employee-owners will move into the new facility. The building will have room for growth to 540 employees, and the site has space for a second building.
