New Ashley Furniture store to open Monday The new Ashley Furniture HomeStore at 1600 45th St. S., Fargo, will open on Monday.
A grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held at 11:30 a.m. Sept. 18. Appetizers and refreshments will be served, and the public is invited to attend.
Lorentzsen luncheon schedule announced The Lorentzsen Center for Faith and Work monthly luncheon schedule at Concordia College begins in September. The center honors the life and work of Norman M. Lorentzsen, a philanthropist and former CEO of Burlington Northern and an alumnus of Concordia.
As part of Concordia’s Offutt School of Business, the center identifies and sustains ethical values and practices in individuals and organizations.
The luncheons run from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Barry Auditorium at Concordia and cost is $20 (unless otherwise noted). The schedule includes:

Sanford receives grant for cancer research The National Cancer Institute of the National Institutes of Health has named Sanford Health an NCI Community Oncology Research Program community site and awarded it a five-year grant totaling more than $7.1 million to recruit participants for cancer clinical trials, quality of life studies and cancer-care delivery research.
The grant was one of 53 awarded under NCORP, a national network of investigators, cancer-care providers, academic institutions and other organizations that provide care to diverse populations in community-based health care practices across the country.
Sanford is among 34 community sites that will recruit participants and partner with the seven NCORP research base hubs to design and conduct multi-center cancer prevention, control and screening/post-treatment surveillance clinical trials and studies.
Sanford, which is the only NCORP site in the Dakotas and Nebraska, will also participate in studies that explore quality of life and cancer-care delivery involving patients, practitioners and health care organizations.
Bergstrom Electric celebrating 50 years Bergstrom Electric is celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2014. The electrical contracting firm has offices in Grand Forks, Fargo, Bismarck and Devils Lake, N.D., and in Thief River Falls, Minn.
The company was established in 1964 by Al and Eva Bergstrom in their garage, first completing small electrical projects for residential buildings and electrical service. Over the years, the firm has expanded its services to large commercial and industrial projects.
In 2013, the company became an employee-owned firm through an employee stock ownership plan.
Bernabucci buys laser hair therapy franchise Connie Bernabucci of Bucci Salon, Fargo, has purchased the Laser Hair Therapy of North Dakota franchise.
The treatments, which involves low power lasers, uses light energy to stimulate blood flow to the follicles, which can result in hair growth for some clients.
