Dawson Insurance opens Bismarck office

Dawson Insurance, a Fargo-based independent insurance agency, has opened an office in Bismarck.

Brian Howell has been hired as a commercial lines producer in Bismarck.

Howell, a former television news reporter in Bismarck and Dickinson, N.D., earned a bachelor's degree in political science and business administration from Stonehill College, Easton, Mass. Prior to working in media, he worked in residential and commercial real estate and in advertising sales.

Kohl's to host free children's event Tuesday

Kohl's Department Store and Sanford Children's Hospital, Fargo, will host a free celebration for children at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at Lewis & Clark Elementary School, 1729 16th St. S., Fargo.

The event includes games and activities and a concert by Penny & Pals. During the event, Kohl's will present a $51,544 check to Sanford Children's Hospital.

Kohl's raised the funds for the hospital through its Kohl's Cares merchandise program, selling books and toys with 100 percent of net profits benefiting children's health and education programs nationwide.

The event is free, but participants are encouraged to bring a freewill donation to benefit the local food pantry.

Robley named a winner in Fairfield Inn contest

Wayne Robley, Fargo, has been awarded a weekend trip for two to one of four select destinations as part of the Fairfield Inn & Suites Silver September contest.

During September, guests staying with Fairfield Inn & Suites around the country received an envelope at check-in, with only 25 lucky people finding a winning silver ticket.

Robley won the prize after staying recently at a Fairfield Inn in the Minneapolis area.

Youth entrepreneurship workshop Oct. 18-19

A youth entrepreneurship workshop is scheduled from 8:15 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Oct. 18-19 at the West Central Minnesota Small Business Development Center, 1307 4th St. S., Moorhead.

Participants will learn from professionals with expertise in the areas that affect today's entrepreneur: business management, accounting, marketing and entrepreneurship. They'll also be engaged through hands-on projects, participating in activities and creating a business plan.

Bethany joins Advancing Excellence campaign

Bethany Retirement Living has become a member of Advancing Excellence in America's Nursing Homes Campaign, an initiative of the Advancing Excellence in Long Term Care Collaborative that helps members achieve the highest practicable level of physical, mental and psychosocial well-being for all individuals receiving long term care services.

Bethany has chosen four of eight optional goals to address: staff turnover, pressure ulcers, pain and resident/family satisfaction.

Fargo man wins free fuel through Cenex
