ND Commerce awards grants to tribal colleges
The North Dakota Department of Commerce has awarded a $1 million grant to Turtle Mountain Community College, Belcourt, a $999,985 grant to United Tribes Technical College, Bismarck, a $1 million grant to Sitting Bull College, Fort Yates, and a $500,511 grant to Cankdeska Cikana Community College, Fort Totten.
The grants will support the colleges' efforts to develop workforce training programs for students.
Agency donating to charity during Sept.
The Brent Berg American Family Insurance Agency, Moorhead, is donating $25 to Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure for each new life insurance policy issued through their office through Sept. 30. September is Life Insurance Awareness Month.

Berg worked for his father in the insurance business for 11 years, and, in January, he became owner of the family business.
Grant supports stroke education, awareness
The Essentia Health Regional Foundation has received a $75,000 grant from the Otto Bremer Foundation to promote stroke education and awareness in rural communities throughout northeastern North Dakota and northwestern Minnesota.
The grant will fund training opportunities for health care providers in rural communities, including emergency medical services personnel. The grant will also fund community education to help the public recognize the signs of stroke and understand the importance of seeking medical help right away.
