F-M Realtors hosting personal care item drive

The Fargo Moorhead Area Association of Realtors is coordinating a personal care item drive through April to benefit the New Life Center in Fargo.

Suggested donations include razors, shaving cream, soap, shampoo, deodorant, toothbrushes and toothpaste. Cash donations will also be accepted.

Donations may be dropped off at the FMAAR office at 813 N. University Drive, Fargo, or for pickup, call (701) 235-6679.

People's Press Project awarded RESIST grant

The People's Press Project has been awarded a $3,000 grant by RESIST Inc., a national progressive foundation.

The grant will be used to fund training, paid internships and apprenticeships.

Grant supports dental services for children

Dakota Medical Foundation, Fargo, has awarded a $5,000 grant to Children's Dental Services to support on-site dental services for low-income children in Moorhead and Fargo regional schools.

Otto Bremer awards grants to area groups

The Otto Bremer Foundation of St. Paul has awarded grants totaling more than $2.7 million to programs and organizations throughout Minnesota, North Dakota and Wisconsin

Minnesota grants included: $50,000, city of Detroit Lakes for development of a new community park; and $35,000, Project HERO, Moorhead, for general operating support.

In North Dakota, grants included: $50,000, Community Care of Arthur, an organization that serves the aging community in rural Cass County; $20,0000, F-M Rotary Foundation, Fargo, for its "Rebuilding Together" program; $50,000, Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd, New Rockford, for removal of asbestos; $150,000, Sisters of Mary of the Presentation Long Term Care, Enderlin, to support a construction and renovation project; $6,000, Tri-College University, Fargo, for the new Leadership Development Institute; and $20,000, Wahpeton Parks and Recreation, for multi-purpose playground equipment.

Gate City donates $5K to DMF Lend a Hand

DMF Lend A Hand in Fargo has received a $5,000 corporate sponsorship gift from Gate City Bank to expand help for local families experiencing a medical crisis.

Contributions to Lend A Hand are matched by Dakota Medical Foundation and distributed to eligible families in coordination with volunteer-led fundraising efforts.

Total Balance collects shoes for local charities

Total Balance fitness centers in Fargo collected more than 200 pairs of shoes for local charities through its recent Sole Support donation drive.

The drive provided new and gently used athletic shoes to residents of the YWCA Women's Shelter, the Rape and Abuse Crisis Center and Churches United for the Homeless.

Grant to support intervention training

FirstLink in Fargo was awarded $20,000 from the North Dakota Department of Health to provide applied suicide intervention skills training.

State funding for the project allows participants to attend the training free of charge.

FirstLink will provide the training in Fargo on May 5-6. Training programs will also be scheduled in Jamestown and Harvey, N.D.
