FirstLink receives grant to purchase generator

The Otto Bremer Foundation has awarded a $12,131 grant to FirstLink in Fargo to purchase a generator for the FirstLink's 24-hour 2-1-1 HotLine, Suicide Lifeline and crisis call center.

The generator is needed to assure uninterrupted service to those seeking help.

Western State Bank donates to area groups

Western State Banks in West Fargo and Fargo contributed nearly $38,000 in charitable donations and its employees volunteered nearly 2,000 hours of time to more than 40 different area organizations in the West Fargo and Fargo communities.

Some of the organizations Western employees volunteered their time to included: The United Way of Cass-Clay, Minn-Kota Red Cross, Lake Agassiz Habitat for Humanity, Meals on Wheels, Cass County Housing Authority, Red River Valley Fair, Fargo Moorhead West Fargo Chamber of Commerce, West Fargo Economic Advisory Committee and Exchange Club, Fargo Optimist Club, Horace Lions, West Fargo Packerbackers and Baseball Association, FM Humane Society, Roger Maris Cancer Center, NDSU Alumni Association, West Fargo and Fargo schools and sports organizations and numerous churches.

Children's advocacy center receives grant

The Red River Children's Advocacy Center in Fargo has received a $5,000 grant from Dakota Medical Foundation, Fargo, to support services provided to children who are victims of sexual and physical abuse.

Big Brother/Big Sister receives donation

The Southwest Optimist Club of Fargo has donated $1,500 to the Fargo Big Brother/Big Sister program.

The club is affiliated with Optimist International, an association of more than 2,900 Optimist clubs around the world dedicated to the betterment of youth.

DMF grant to support child fitness programs

TNT Kid's Fitness in Fargo has received an $11,500 grant from Dakota Medical Foundation, Fargo, to support the special needs and child fitness programs at TNT.
