A new 230,000-square-foot Menards megastore will open in Moorhead one week from today at 3000 27th Ave. S.
"We're truly excited about the opening of our new store," said General Manager Troy Anderson, a 1990 Dilworth High School graduate and 17-year Menards employee.
The store will employ about 170 full- and part-time workers, he said.
Everybody has been hired, Anderson said. The number of employees will fluctuate up to about 200 "once we're ramped up," he said.
The only thing different about the Moorhead store compared with the one in West Fargo on 13th Avenue South is the layout.

"All the product mix is usually the same," Anderson said. "We pretty much carry a full line of everything."
Anderson starting working for Menards at the original 50,000-square-foot Fargo store next to the current Best Buy store, he said.
"I've seen a lot of change," said Anderson, who moved here in August from Stillwater, Minn., where he was store manager for 4½ years.
"We're really happy about Menards choosing this particular portion of town, and we think it's just a great fit," said Michael Redlinger, acting Moorhead city manager.
Having Menards where it is offers other opportunities for retail and commercial development in that part of the city, he said.
"We look forward to seeing what other opportunities may present themselves in this area," Redlinger said.
The city of Moorhead agreed in December 2005 to sell 60 acres of land to Menards for $6.3 million to build the store.
The site, which the city acquired through tax forfeiture in 1991, previously housed the Moorview Soccer Complex.

Store hours will be 6:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 6:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday.
