FARGO — A new business is expected to arrive in Fargo in spring 2019 that will buy and sell gently used tech gear, including phones, computers and tablets.

Device Pitstop's business model is similar to that of Fargo's Clothes Mentor, a women's upscale resale store that opened here about seven years ago.

Both Device Pitstop and Clothes Mentor are franchise brands owned by NTY Franchise Co., which has headquarters in Minnetonka, Minn.

The Fargo location of Device Pitstop will be operated by Troy DeBerg, who has yet to announce a location for the Fargo store, but expects it will open in spring of 2019.

"Based on the success of Clothes Mentor in Fargo, we have every reason to believe the people here are going to love Device Pitstop as well," DeBerg said in a written statement.

"It's a terrific concept offering so many different ways for people here to buy, sell or repair devices at a price the can afford," DeBerg added.

The Fargo Clothes Mentor store is located at 2551 45th St. S. The store was No. 1 among nearly 150 Clothes Mentor stores nationwide in sales for both 2016 and 2017.

Brad Swenson, vice president of Device Pitstop, said the store will buy and sell Apple, Windows and Android devices and also repair devices, "giving customers options beyond buying brand new."

Fargo's Device Pitstop will be the brand's first store in North Dakota.
