FARGO - After 48 years in the West Acres Shopping Center, Eyecare Associates Fargo has moved.

The optical shop is moving a half mile west of the mall to a new spot in the TJ Maxx Plaza. The store will be in the building that’s also home to Office Depot and Panchero’s Mexican Grill at 4360 13th Ave. S.

The shop’s last day at West Acres was Sept. 24.

The new location will open Monday, Oct. 4, according to the business’s Facebook page.

The company also has a West Fargo location, which has remained open during the Fargo store’s move.

The new hours for the Fargo location will be 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, and closed Sunday.

The staff at West Acres said goodbye to Eyecare Associates in a Thursday, Sept. 23 Facebook post:
“After 48 years at West Acres, we are wishing the wonderful team at Eyecare Associates Fargo all the best as they move to their new, larger location down the street!

We are so grateful for the many, many years that Eyecare Associates has been at West Acres (they opened in 1973, just one year after the mall opened!), but we couldn't be more excited for all that's ahead for their team,” the West Acres post said. “Their last day here will be Friday, September 24th. Join us in wishing Eyecare Associates farewell in their final few days at West Acres!”

One of the firm’s doctors, Barbra Brookshire, thanked the mall for the note.

“It’s a bittersweet day for us. Thank You from the bottom of my heart for making my 15 plus years in West Acres so enjoyable. I will miss the mall. It’s not goodbye … it’s see you later,” Brookshire wrote on Facebook.

The company was named best eye clinic by participants in The Forum's Best of the Red River Valley 2020 poll.
