FARGO - Fargo is the No. 1 spot in the U.S. to start a career, according to Zippia, an occupational resource website.
Fargo is perched on top of the Upper Midwest-heavy list thanks to a mix of factors that include a median income of $38,525, a pre-COVID unemployment rate of 2.5%, and relatively low average rental costs.
In the No. 2 spot was Sioux Falls, S.D., followed in descending order by Salt Lake City; Lincoln, Neb.; Madison, Wisc.; Raleigh, N.C.; Charleston, S.C.; Boise City, Idaho; Oklahoma City; and Nashville, Tenn.
Elsewhere around the region, St. Paul was ranked as the top city to start a career in Minnesota. Billings was best in Montana; Des Moines was best in Iowa; and Ann Arbor in Michigan.
