ST. PAUL - Five Minnesota agricultural research and promotion councils recently elected new members to serve on their boards of directors.
Voting results for the Canola, Dry Edible Bean, Sunflower and Areas I and II Potato councils have been released by the Minnesota Department of Agriculture, which administers the elections.
The state's commodity research and promotion councils help coordinate the ongoing development and promotion of farm products.
Elected to a seat on the board of directors for the five councils are:
- Area I Potato Research and Promotion Council: Gorman Johnson, Polk County; Justin Dagen, Kittson County.

- Area II Potato Research and Promotion Council: Jeff Edling, Sherburne County; Brian Goenner, Sherburne County; Frank Kasowski, III, Sherburne County; John Petron, Todd County.
- Canola Research and Promotion Council: District 1, Kraig Lee, Roseau County; at large, Robert Rynning, Kittson County.
- Dry Edible Bean Research and Promotion Council: District 2, Norman Krause, Todd County.
- Sunflower Council: District 1, Jerry Hasnedl, Pennington County.
