FARGO - Foss Swim School is planning to be up and splashing in the former Best Buy building next to the West Acres mall by mid-October, a company official confirmed Wednesday, Sept. 11.

Preview times will be held from Oct. 10-12 so that students can be evaluated to determine what level classes they should start in, Site Director Hannah Lindeman said.

A grand opening celebration and open house will be held 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 13., said Lindeman, confirming information posted on Facebook.

“The 13th will be an easy-going family swim,” Lindeman said.

The free event will also include facility tours, refreshments, special offers, activities and giveaways, and a craft table and other family friendly activities.

The school at 1615 38th St. S. teaches all ages, from 6 months to adults, she said. Tuition rates are available online for each of the company’s locations.

Classes start in Fargo on Oct. 15, Lindeman said.
“People who want to swing by and check it out after the 15th are welcome to,” Lindeman said.

According to permit information filed with the city, construction costs for the swim school, which appears to take up about a third of the former Best Buy space, were estimated at $1.5 million.

Foss Swim School operates eight locations in and around the Twin Cities metro area and six in the Chicago area. A Foss Swim School recently opened in O’Fallon, Mo. Locations are planned to open in Iowa and Wisconsin in 2020.
