ST. PAUL — The Minnesota Department of Agriculture is hosting a series of no-cost pesticide waste collections in northwestern Minnesota.
Residents of Beltrami, Cass, Clay, Clearwater, Lake of the Woods, Kittson, Marshall, Pennington, Polk, Red Lake and Roseau counties can visit any of the five sites in August to dispose of waste. Accepted waste items include unwanted, unusable agricultural and consumer-type pesticides including insecticides, fungicides, herbicides and rodenticides.
Crop oils, adjuvants, pesticide rinsate, fertilizer, treated seed, contaminated soil and empty pesticide containers are not accepted. Collection sites and times include:
West Central Ag, 334 1st St. S.E. in Ulen, 2-4 p.m. Aug. 3
CHS Ag Services, 3035 Highway 75 S. in Crookston, 9-11 a.m. Aug. 4
CHS Ag Services, 624 3rd St. W. in Thief River Falls, 2-4 p.m. Aug. 4
CHS Ag Services, 420 Main St. S. in Warren, 9-11 a.m. Aug. 5
Nutrient Ag Solutions, 1275 Atlantic Ave. S. in Hallock, 2-4 p.m. Aug. 5
Pre-registration is not required. Collection sites can take up to 300 pounds of eligible waste at no cost. Those with more than 300 pounds to dispose of are asked to call 651-214-6843 to provide advance notice.
Since the waste pesticide collection program began in 1990, the state has collected more than 8 million pounds of waste.
