FARGO — The Fargo-Moorhead Convention and Visitors Bureau will soon offer Grape Plains Winery Tours, a series of guided tours of Red River Valley wineries.

Two tours will be offered every month, running June – September, for a total of eight available dates. Each will take a different route and include four stops along the way. Each tour can support up to 20 participants.

The first opportunity is from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. June 6. Stops will include Maple River Winery, Red Trail Winery, Rookery Rock Winery and 4e Winery. The tour includes a limo bus ride, snacks, tastings at each stop and a tour of each facility.

“ ’I never knew there were so many wineries in North Dakota,’ is a comment we often hear from visitors to our winery, and it’s understandable,' ” says Lisa Cook from 4e Winery. “Wine Country is not the first thing that comes to mind when one thinks about the Red River Valley, but over the past few years the number of wineries, meaderies, and cideries in Cass and Richland County alone has grown to 9, with one more slated to open in the fall. Visitors are always amazed that we can actually grow grapes in our climate, and they are pleasantly surprised by the quality of the wine, mead and cider made from grapes and other fruit grown in the region. We are all very excited to partner with the Fargo-Moorhead Convention and Visitors Bureau and look forward to welcoming participants in the Grape Plains tour.”

Participating wineries include Bear Creek Winery , Dakota Vines, Rookery Rock Winery, Maple River Winery, Red Trail Vineyard, Rookery Rock Winery, 4e winery, Prairie Rose Meadery , Wild Terra Cider & Brewing and Cottonwood Cidery .
