FARGO - Forty builders will showcase 58 homes spanning a wide price range as the Home Builders Association of Fargo-Moorhead kicks off its 51st annual Spring Parade of Homes on Saturday.

"We're ecstatic about it," said Tyrone Leslie, HBA president and co-owner of Heritage Homes, which has five homes in the parade. "Considering our size, we're probably one of the biggest parade of homes out there in the country."

The nine-day parade will highlight a mix of homes, ranging from a $108,677 Eid-Co townhome in Moorhead's Village Green addition to a $685,000, five-bedroom rambler by Dietrich Homes in West Fargo's Shadow Wood addition, one of three featured homes in the parade.

"It's going to be a great event, lots of variety," Leslie said.

There is a $5 cost to tour the featured homes. The proceeds will go to the Home Builders Care Foundation, a charitable entity dedicated to supporting training, education and projects related to the housing industry.

In addition to giving potential homebuyers a close-up look at what's on the market, the parade also sparks ideas for renovations among existing homeowners, Leslie said.

A magazine detailing each parade entry can be found at all Hornbacher's stores and online at www.hbafm.com . A Parade of Homes application for Apple devices such as the iPad, iPod and iPhone also is available on the website.

The parade, which includes homes in Dilworth, Fargo, Moorhead and West Fargo, ends May 8. The homes will be open from noon to 5 p.m. on weekends and from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on weekdays.
