New shareholders at Fredrikson & Byron

Kristy L. Albrecht, Jon E. Strinden and Todd E. Zimmerman have been elected as shareholders of Fredrikson & Byron.

All three are in the law firm's Fargo office.

Albrecht is a shareholder in the employment and labor, litigation and appellate groups; Strinden in the corporate, mergers and acquisitions, private equity and venture capital and emerging business groups; and Zimmerman is in the real estate, securities, agribusiness and cooperatives, internet, technology and ecommerce and litigation groups.

Supply firm recognized for sales, service

KPI-JCI and Astec Mobile Screens recognized authorized dealer General Equipment and Supplies, Fargo, for its excellence in sales for material handling products, as well as its excellence in service and the company's national dealer conference Sept. 12-14 in New Orleans.

The recipients of the awards were selected from the entire KPI-JCI and Astec Mobile Screens' dealer network.

Sovada awarded for wildlife research studies

U.S. Geological Survey biologist Marsha A. Sovada has received the Department of the Interior Meritorious Service Award for her contributions to the development and management of wildlife research studies.

Sovada received the award in recognition of her research on the behavior and ecology of mammalian predators and waterfowl with the USGS Northern Prairie Wildlife Research Center in Jamestown, N.D.

Her 30-year career with the USGS has included predator ecology, waterfowl biology, mammalogy, ornithology and natural resources management.

Whitney recognized by national women's group

The National Association of Professional Women has inducted Susie K. Whitney, Wahpeton, N.D., into the association's VIP membership level.

As a VIP Woman of the Year, Whitney was selected in recognition of strides she has made in her industry, outstanding leadership, professional achievements and support of NAPW's commitment to networking and community involvement.

She is the senior freight manager and co-owner of SMJ Freight Solutions with offices in Moorhead, Wahpeton and Quebec, Canada.

Farm Rescue founder Gross receives honor

Bill Gross, founder of Farm Rescue, has been named Honorary Farmer of the Year in Quincy, Wash., during a citywide celebration on Farmer Consumer Awareness Day.

Gross, who grew up on a farm near Cleveland, N.D., founded Farm Rescue in 2005. The nonprofit organization plants and harvests crops, free of charge, for farm families who have suffered a major illness, injury or natural disaster. Gross is a pilot for UPS Airlines.

Lia Sophia advisers earn sales, service awards

Fashion accessory company Lia Sophia has recognized Paula Fode and Sue Quamme, both of Fargo, as Excellent Beginnings Program Achievers.

Each earned the award by attaining certain sales levels and by sharing Lia Sophia with other new advisers.

Schultz & Associates earns 2 design awards

Shultz & Associates, a Fargo architectural firm, has received two design awards from the American Institute of Architects, North Dakota Chapter.

The firm received a Merit Award for Lakeland Mental Health Center's new headquarters facility in Fergus Falls, Minn., and a Juror's Choice Award for the Red River Zoo admissions building in Fargo.

Sanford named to InformationWeek 500

For the sixth consecutive year, Sanford Health has made the InformationWeek 500, an annual listing of the nation's most innovative users of business technology.

A key consideration in receiving this year's recognition was Sanford's proactive business continuity planning that provided disaster recovery infrastructure for its electronic medical record system, Sanford One Chart, through upgrades to hardware and development of procedures to mitigate the effects of planned and unplanned downtimes for the EMR.

EPA GreenChill program recognizes Super Valu

The U.S. environmental Protection Agency's GreenChill Partnership has recognized Super Valu for achieving its emissions reduction goal this past year.

Super Valu, which operates Hornbacher's supermarkets in the Fargo-Moorhead area, sought out opportunities to stop refrigerant leaks which can contribute to climate change and harm the ozone layer.

Engineering firm earns Vendor Choice Award

Houston Engineering, Fargo, has been recognized by the North Dakota Solid Waste and Recycling Association with a 2011 Vendor Choice Award.

Recipients of the award have shown salesmanship, exceptional customer service and commitment to the solid waste industry in North Dakota and the surrounding region.

Elements awarded Silver Sneakers program

Elements Diet and Fitness in Fargo has been awarded the Healthways Silver Sneakers program.

The health, wellness and fitness program is for older adults and seniors to help them live fit, active and independent lifestyles.
