Hugo's donates thousands of gallons of milk to families in need
GRAND FORKS — Thousands of gallons in milk were donated to families in need just in time for the holidays.
More than 7,800 gallons of milk were given to the Great Plains Food Bank and North Country Food Bank.
The dairy will go to families in the Grand Cities, Crookston and Thief River Falls.
More than 5,500 gallons of milk came from donations by Hugo's customers in those communities.
"Milk is so important to these families," said Susie Novak, with North Country Food Bank. "People with children, senior citizens, veterans, everybody who's struggling with hunger. They really appreciate having milk available for them."
The donations should get local food pantries through the winter and into next spring.
