FARGO-Dean Atchison, CEO of Spectrum Aeromed, has been named a finalist for the 2015 EY Entrepreneur of the Year Award for the Upper Midwest.

Award winners will be announced June 10 in Minneapolis.

Atchison acquired Spectrum Aeromed in 2007 when the company was based in Wheaton, Minn. At the time, the company had 16 employees and little to no revenue stream.

Atchison moved the operation to Fargo in 2008, and since then revenue has grown sevenfold for the maker of custom air ambulance equipment.

He said he is grateful to be recognized as an award finalist, but added that his success "is purely the result of working with and for an extraordinary team of aerospace professionals."
