Junkyard Brewing to sell 'Black is Beautiful' beer

Get ready to raise a glass

MOORHEAD — Junkyard Brewing Company collaborates with thousands of taprooms across America to brew and sell "Black is Beautiful" stout this August.

Started by Weathered Souls Brewing in San Antonio, Texas, brewers want to highlight daily injustices black people face. As of Aug. 27, more than 1,000 breweries have participated in this program to brew a "Black is Beautiful" stout for their local community.

Aaron Juhnke, Junkyard Brewing Company owner, partnered with Moorhead Mayor Johnathan Judd on this project to donate 100% of the proceeds of this beer release to local nonprofit organizations including the Afro American Development Association, P’s & Q’s Etiquette, and Birthing of a Diamond.

People can buy the "Black is Beautiful" stout from their taproom starting at 10 a.m., Aug. 28.

Staff said their taproom will stay closed because of the ongoing pandemic, so only off-sale will be available for the foreseeable future.
