FARGO — It's been a busy month for young entrepreneur McKenzie Kjos. On March 1, the 27-year-old relocated her first children's clothing store, Tootsie's Children's Boutique, to a new space in the BLU 32 development at 4600 32nd Ave. S. Suite 100 .

On Thursday, March 25, she opened her second boutique in its place at 5670 38th Ave. S. Suite E.

Kenzie + Co. Kids Boutique is an extension of Tootsie's, which sold children's clothing in sizes ranging from preemie to size 6. Kenzie + Co. carries children's clothing in sizes 6 through 16.

"It was always my plan to open a second store catering to the sizes that Tootsie's left off, but I did not expect to be opening it so soon. I figured maybe five or 10 years down the road," Kjos said. "With all of the stores closing, though, it felt like the perfect time. There is not a lot in the area for kids in the 6 to 16 range, and I remember being that age and shopping for clothes was all I wanted to do."

Kjos grew up interested in fashion and got her first break selling women's clothing at Apricot Lane in West Acres. After about four years, she stepped out on her own to open Tootsie's Children's Boutique in 2017.

In addition to clothing, shoes and accessories, Kenzie + Co. carries a makeup and hair accessory line as well as items such as notebooks, journals, purses, backpacks and more.

"Customers will find all the same great styles here that you already loved at Tootsie's," Kjos said. "If you have kids in both size ranges, we have a lot of styles that carry over at both stores so you can still coordinate and match for pictures and events."
