Knight, parent company of Knight Printing Co., has acquired Mail Presort Services Inc., a Fargo-based mailing, data and printing services company.
"This is a key new investment, and the acquisition of Mail Presort represents the continued technology-based transformation of our company," said Knight Chief Executive Officer Rich Slagle.
The addition will allow Knight, a 120-year-old commercial printing company, to provide expanded opportunities in digital printing, including mail sorting and commingling for first class and standard mail.
Mail Presort was started 25 years ago by Sherry Illich, who will join the Knight management team.

For the second consecutive year, Pedigree Technologies of Fargo, 1854 NDSU Research Circle N., has been named to the M2M 100 list.

Scheels to open new store in Rapid City
Fargo-based Scheels will open a new 100,000-square-foot store in the Rushmore Crossing Development in Rapid City, S.D., on Feb. 14.
It will offer women's, youth, men's and sports specialty shops.
The store will also have sports simulators featuring everything from soccer to hockey.
Employee-owned Scheels has 23 stores in eight states, and 4,200 associates.

M.J. Capelli hands out $63K in bonuses
Fargo-Moorhead hair salon business M.J. Capelli has presented $63,574 in bonuses to employees.
Owner Martin Riske handed out the performance bonuses at the company's recent awards banquet.
It is the 14th year bonuses have been presented by the 23-year-old company, said General Manager Sue Cote.
M.J. Capelli employs 94 stylists at five locations in Fargo-Moorhead.
Marketplace to hold venture capital fair
Great Plains Venture Capital has scheduled its first annual Venture Capital Fair on Jan. 13 in Bismarck in conjunction with Marketplace for Entrepreneurs.
The fair will provide a venue for venture investors, CEOs, entrepreneurs and service professionals to network and learn firsthand about the venture funding and entrepreneurial opportunities available throughout the region.

Participation is based on a formal review and selection committee composed of venture capitalists and service professionals from regional, national and international venues.
