All Terrain Grounds Maintenance

Opened: 1999

Address: 4663 13th Ave. N., Fargo

Description of business: We are a team of certified and trained lawn care maintenance professionals that are able to take care of your home and commercial property. From fertilizing programs for your lawn to sprinkler system maintenance to structural pruning of trees and shrubs to weekly mowing. We know exactly what to do and how to do it. Every decision we make supports our four core values, to always be real with customers and employees, to deliver an amazing customer experience, to serve our team, and to give back to our community.

What do you enjoy most about being in business in Fargo-Moorhead? “We enjoy the people we’ve been able to connect with and create relationships with. Fargo-Moorhead has always been home so it’s been awesome not just to see how much it’s grown and to be a part of that growth too,” said marketing manager Esther Saavedra.

What All Terrain offers residents in the FM area: All Terrain annually gives back 3% of our revenue to organizations throughout the area through our Spray it Forward program, where our customers are able to nominate a family member, a friend or someone they know who is in need or going through hard times for services free of charge. As well as through our employee give back program, where each full-time employee selects a nonprofit of their choosing each year.

Specialized business offering: Our best service is our weed control and fertilizer programs. Because we’re locally owned and have strong relationships with academic institutions and excellent product vendors, we’re able to constantly adjust our formulas based on current conditions in our local area. We are not being told by some national corporation what to use. We can fine tune our formulas each day if needed to ensure our customers are getting exactly what they need to keep their lawn looking great and weed-free. Our products and programs are so effective, that many other professional companies in our area outsource their treatment programs to us. We have some great partnerships in place so a lot of folks in our local area get taken care of correctly.

Design Direction

Opened: November 2005,

Address: 3211 Fiechtner Drive Suite 1, Fargo

Description of business: At Design Direction, we start with a creative session getting to know you, your vision, and requirements before planning your project. It’s important to us that your home or office area reflects your personality and compliments your lifestyle. Every client is unique, and we embrace that. Our background in working with contractors, builders, and architects allows us to work alongside the other professionals during the building process. This ensures your project will be completed efficiently. Along with design services, we provide products for floor coverings, area rugs, custom upholstered furniture, window coverings and much more. Our space planning, room layout, and finish selection services integrate all the design elements needed for your project.

What do you enjoy most about being in business in Fargo-Moorhead? “Whether it’s working with our trade partners or our involvement in business organizations, we have appreciated the helpful and supportive attitudes of others willing to share ideas. Ideas both on what has helped them succeed and what didn’t work that became a learning opportunity. However, the best part is wonderful clients along with the friendships gained! As our community grows, the building industry both residential and commercial are always changing,” said owner Sylvia Lunski.

What Design Direction offers residents in the FM area: Design Direction offers our clients many aspects of design solutions for your home or office while working with our skilled and creative design team. On a new build or remodel we are often involved early in the blueprint and overall project development stage. Often clients will bring us a few ideas or pictures of rooms that appeal to them, and we collaborate on how they can be incorporated into their plans. That’s when we dive in and guide them through all the decision making. We believe that small refresh projects are as important as full-scale remodels and new construction

Specialized business offering: It is hard to pinpoint one specialized service, since we offer such a wide range of services. I’ll pick window coverings since they are the finishing touch to every room. They can be as simple as inconspicuous shades to control the light and privacy of a room, to fabric draperies and shutters. Fabric draperies and side panels have made a strong resurrection. You would be amazed at how many wonderful patterns, colors, textures, decorative trims, and rods there are to choose from. Window coverings can really compliment the personality of a room.

Imperial Flooring

Opened: 2013 (2002 in Bismarck)

Address: 3306 Sheyenne St. #214, West Fargo

Description of business: “Imperial Flooring is a locally owned flooring retailer providing finishes, installation and so much more,” owner Aaron Johnson said.

What do you enjoy most about being in business in Fargo-Moorhead? “My favorite thing about doing business in the Fargo-Moorhead area is working with the people. I’ve dealt with customers in a sales capacity all over the country and the people from this area have been, by far, the greatest I’ve worked with. Our area’s continued growth is bringing about a freshness in design diversity that is breaking away from the traditional Midwest norms that many of us grew up with. From born and raised local families to new transplants, it’s awesome to work with people that are wanting and willing to have fun with the design process,” Johnson said.

What Imperial Flooring offers residents in the FM area: “We offer product and installation for all the standard laminate, waterproof, hardwood, carpet and tile options. But we also offer custom showers, backsplashes, window treatments, custom closets, garage storage, kitchen cabinets, countertops and more. If we don’t have what our customers are looking for, I always enjoy taking on the challenge of bringing new products into our store. We offer free next day estimating services to begin your project and we’ve modeled our showroom to be comfortable and not overwhelming. Trying to select one flooring you like from 15 samples is hard enough, trying to select ‘the one’ from 1,000 samples makes it that much harder. We carefully curate and pare down our samples to make that selection process as easy as possible,” Johnson remarked.

Specialized business offering: “The design industry in the F-M area is very competitive. Each store has access to the same products for the most part. Each store has great installers that work out of them. Imperial is no exception. Our installers are among the best in the area and have been with us since we’ve opened. The one thing I’d say that really sets us apart is our customer care. We know everyone’s schedules are crazy so if our customers can’t make it in during business hours, we will take appointments with them whenever they can. As a smaller store we are able to pay our customers the attention they deserve from start to finish. It starts with a prompt estimate and continues through and even after project completion,” Johnson commented.
