FARGO - The North Dakota State University Extension Service is offering a course for food safety and kitchen managers, supervisors and anyone else who is responsible for serving safe food to the public.

The two-part Food Protection Manager Certification course will be May 19 and 26 in the Klefstad Room of the NDSU Alumni Center, 1241 N. University Drive, Fargo. The program will run from 8:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. both days, with check-in beginning at 8 a.m. Participants must attend both sessions to be certified.

This course is designed to help food establishments develop a food safety plan or update their plan with the latest information.

Having managers and supervisors with food safety certification can help establishments protect against the expense of a foodborne illness outbreak and provide their customers with consistently safe, high-quality food, according to Julie Garden-Robinson, NDSU Extension food and nutrition specialist.

Garden-Robinson, who teaches the course, will use the ServSafe curriculum from the National Restaurant Association's Educational Foundation. She is a certified ServSafe instructor.
