FARGO – A new hotel and restaurant will be coming to downtown Fargo in the New Year.
The Jasper Hotel, a 125-room luxury hotel, along with a Nordic-themed restaurant called Rosewild, is set to open in January 2021 as part of the Block 9 project at Second Avenue North and Broadway.
The new facilities are courtesy of Aparium Hotel Group, and a press release issued earlier this week gives some detail as to what to expect.
“Jasper Hotel will feature 125 rooms at the center of the burgeoning downtown market,” according to the release. “The restaurant, Rosewild, will offer ‘around the hearth’ plains-inspired cuisine featuring rustic Nordic dishes and ingredients for up to 54 guests, a nod to the strong Norwegian heritage of North Dakota’s initial settlers who arrived in the 1800’s. The bar will feature classic cocktails with Nordic-midwestern touches such as garnishes of spruce, anise flavors, and market ingredients. The property will also feature a ground floor coffee bar.”
The Kilbourne Group announced in 2018 that Chicago-based Aparium Hotel Group would be taking over as the hospitality management partner for Block 9.

In addition to Fargo, Aparium announced five other hotels opening soon in the "secondary markets" of Des Moines, Iowa; Tampa, Fla.; Birmingham, Mich.; Denver; and Alexandria, Va. The company calls its approach “translocal hospitality,” foregoing imposed guidelines and spending two years researching each market in search of what makes it unique.
The property, it claims, will then be designed according to its local findings. No one from Aparium or the Kilbourne Group was available Thursday to offer further details.
According to the press release, “the hotel will act as a beacon of Fargo's community, incorporating the arts and culture that make the city special through partnerships and programming with local makers, designers, and innovators.”
In July, developers announced that the $4 million, four-season community plaza next to Block 9 will be known as Broadway Square.
Ana Rusness-Petersen, who will manage the square and previously worked on similar projects in Austin, Texas, and Seattle, said more than 270 events are already planned for 2021 after the grand opening set for the third week of November during the city's annual Holiday Lights Parade.
