Fargo - A reader sent in this question asking about a building going up at 2650 52nd Ave. S., Fargo, next to the Prairie Grove retail center:
“I know that there were plans to build a new Pussy Cat Lounge on 52nd Avenue South, west of 25th Street.
“There has been a foundation poured on that site for a number of weeks, but no further activity. Wondering if this is in fact the new ‘Pussy Cat’ and if the plans are still to go ahead with construction?”
The reader is partially correct. At one point, organizers of the business floated the idea of reviving the name Pussy Cat Lounge, a name harking back to the Pink Pussy Cat Lounge, a bar that years ago sat at the corner of NP Avenue and Fourth Street North, in downtown Fargo.
The idea was dropped, however, and the new restaurant and bar, which will likely have an off-sale as well, has yet to settle on a name.
A backer of the project said it’s possible a contest will be conducted over social media to come up with a moniker.
The building housing the business may also get a companion tenant, though nothing has been finalized yet.
Details regarding construction timelines for the project were not yet available.
