Novum Pharmaceutical Research Services office in south Fargo closes
The contract research company still lists clinics in Las Vegas and Toronto, Canada.
FARGO - The Novum Pharmaceuticals Research Services office in south Fargo has permanently closed.
The Facebook page for the Fargo office in the PRACS Building at 4840 23rd Ave. S., has been taken down and the facility is now listed as permanently closed with the Google internet search engine.
Novum, a contract research organization, still lists facilities in Las Vegas and Toronto as open. Messages to an office in Pittsburgh, identified as the company's headquarters, have not been returned.
No information has been released on what led to the closure of the Fargo facility, how many employees were laid off here, or how many may have transferred to remaining Novum facilities.
The Forum had received a tip that staff at the Fargo office had been laid off, and had sought confirmation from Novum for weeks about whether the Fargo office was temporarily shut down or being permanently shuttered, starting with a trip to that office on Monday, May 23. At that time, no one was working at the front desk or in an adjoining office area. No clients were seen in the waiting area.
Among the few people wearing Novum shirts still in the building, a couple were carrying small, black garbage bags. An employee promised that contact information for a Forum reporter and a request for comment would be passed to supervisors.
Two other similar attempts were made in following weeks. None of those attempts to contact Novum officials for comment were acknowledged by any company spokesperson.
