Fargo - The first-ever FargoConnect conference set to convene next week will explore in depth the intersection where human communication and technology meet.
More than 400 people are expected for the one-day event on Wednesday at the Fargodome.
This year’s event, which is expected to be an annual happening in the Fargo-Moorhead area, will focus on social media and its potential for promotion and marketing.
“There’s this energy in Fargo right now that is really electric,” said Eric Piela, an organizer of the event and director of organizational development at the Flint Group. “What FargoConnect tries to do is harness that vitality and start conversation and dialogue around the connection between communication and technology.”
The conference was on its way to selling out this week, but online registration was expected to remain open through Friday at

All remaining tickets are $75 each.
Nationally known social media consultant Jay Baer will give one of the keynote addresses at Wednesday’s conference, which is sponsored by Flint Communications along with Summit Group Software.
Baer is founder of the consulting and coaching firm Convince & Convert, which helps companies improve digital marketing efforts by using content and social media.
His blog is ranked among the world’s top content marketing and social media resources and he is a New York Times best-selling author.
Baer’s talk is scheduled for 9:15 a.m. Wednesday.
Other speakers include Scott Bintz and James Burgum.
Bintz is CEO and founder of RealTruck.com, an online pickup truck accessories store that has more than 100,000 followers on Facebook.
Burgum is a co-founder and managing partner of Arthur Ventures, a Fargo-based venture capital company.
Bintz is scheduled to present at the conference at 11 a.m. Burgum will give a talk at 3:50 p.m.
Breakout sessions include “Promoting Great Content Through Social Media” and “Preparing for Careers in Social Media.”
