DILWORTH - The foundation has been poured for a new mixed-use mercantile strip mall under construction here at 101 15th St. N.E.
On Sept. 17th, the city issued a $1.4 million permit to Ziebarth Construction for a new commercial construction project.
Lance Ziebarth, president of Ziebarth Construction as well as the commercial developer, OZ Development, confirmed the permit is for the Dilworth Mercantile, a mixed-use building with five commercial units on the first floor and three two-bedroom apartments on the second floor.
The project is just south of the Rail District, a strip mall that opened nearby at 214 15th St. N.E. this summer. The Rail District is home to the Butcher Block, The Mix Picks & Decor and Roasted Rail Coffee House.
In an email to The Forum, Ziebarth said they've already seen interest in the commercial units.
"We anticipate anything from retail, to professional services (salons, insurance, financial), to eateries to fitness centers," Ziebarth said. "This area of Dilworth is underserved in pretty much all areas, so we think it will fill quickly."
Ziebarth expects the building's shell to be complete by spring, with an estimated opening date of summer 2022 for businesses.
