FARGO - The Sandy’s Donuts planned for The Shoppes at Osgood shopping center will probably open the first week of September, owner Mark Ostlund said Tuesday, June 25.
Several workers were focusing their efforts on the exterior of the 4,000-square-foot building at 4281 45th St. S. on Tuesday.
“We were hoping for the end of July,” Ostlund said, but issues cropped up to cause that construction schedule to slip.

Ostlund will rent about 2,300 square feet of the building, with the doughnut emporium facing 45th Street South.
“We’re excited about it. I think it’s going to be a great location,” Ostlund said, adding it could well end up as the busiest.
“This is going to be easy access, high traffic. It should be a good location,” he said.
The doughnuts will be made at the flagship West Fargo shop at 310 Main Ave. W. That shop also produces the delightful doughy rings for the Sandy’s at 300 Broadway in downtown Fargo.
The original Sandy’s Donuts & Coffee Shop was opened Sept. 13, 1983 by Mark’s parents, Sandy and Donna Ostlund. It was later moved to 310 Main, a former Hardee’s store, in 2002. The downtown Fargo shop opened in 2014.
Ostlund said he doesn’t have any other doughnut plans on his plate right now.
Mark’s parents, Sandy and Donna Ostlund started the store, a history on the company’s web site said. The mom and pop operation was so busy that Mark left college to help run the business, later taking over the operation.
Sandy Ostlund passed away in October 2008.
