Owner of Beans Coffee Bars to open downtown location in Radisson hotel
FARGO — The owner of two popular Beans Coffee Bars in south Fargo plans to open a third location downtown in the Radisson Hotel, 201 5th St. N.
Heidi Holland said those who had heard the rumors of a downtown location all asked the same question: "Will there be mini doughnuts?"
Beans locations at 5675 26th Ave. S. and 2550 University Drive S. both serve fresh mini doughnuts with each hot beverage and sell bags of the sweet treats.
"The menu be a little scaled down because it's a hotel; but definitely, we'll have the mini doughnuts," Holland said.
The new Beans will be located in the hotel's former first floor lounge. Holland said they'll begin remodeling soon in hopes of opening sometime this spring.
"It's already pretty much set up for us. It's a nice contemporary spot with big windows, so there's not as much that we need to do, which is nice. It will have all the same feel and menu and all that stuff," she said.
Steve Martodam, chief operating officer with Brandt Hospitality Group, approached Holland about opening a Beans in the full-service hotel. Brandt Hospitality Group purchased the hotel in late 2016.
"The Radisson already offers food and an upscale lounge on our second floor, and the new Beans Coffee Bar will be a welcome addition," Martodam said. "We believe that the Holland family and Beans Coffee Bar are the partners to complement what the Radisson brings to that area of downtown."
Holland said she hadn't previously considered a downtown location.
"Getting downtown wasn't really something we were looking to do because there wasn't a drive-thru option, and we really love the drive-thrus. But, I think this is a great concept with the skyway connected to it and the hotel guests. You kind of have a captive audience right off the bat. So, we're going to give it a shot," she said.
