DILWORTH - The Silver Spike Bar & Grill has staked out its territory on Dilworth’s east side.
The sports bar at 314 15th St. NE. opened to the public Thursday, Sept. 17. It boasts a full-service bar, 27 televisions, a patio, banquet room, and a menu that features a variety of American pub grub favorites and steakhouse staples.
“We’re bringing something new to Dilworth,” General Manager Jacob Knodel said, as 5 o-clock neared and the bar and dining room began to fill. “It’s been steady going right out of the gate."
The Silver Spike is the brainchild of owner Myron Knodel, who also owns The Hill Bar & Grill in Glyndon, Minn.
“He has a lot of pride in bringing this to Dilworth,” Jacob Knodel said of his father.
The 5,200 square foot standalone bar and grill seats about 220, but with Minnesota’s COVID-19 restrictions, is limited to 110. Another 36 people can sit on the southside outdoor patio, which has a fireplace to fend off early fall chill. The building has a brighter, airier feel than a typical sports bar, with vaulted ceilings and plenty of social distancing room between tables. Canvas prints of vintage Dilworth photographs are seen throughout the building.
“We kind of wanted to get a clean, modern feel,” Knodel said.

Felton area resident Chad Jones said the Silver Spike felt comfortable.
“I’m impressed. It’s not too light, not too dark,” Jones said.
There are about 45 people on staff to cover the bar, restaurant and kitchen, Knodel said.
“The technology here is the coolest thing,” Knodel said. The servers can be paged with smart watches and registers are accessed with key fobs.
The Silver Spike is family friendly, Knodel said. The kitchen serves up an array of burgers and sandwiches as well as appetizers, soups, salads, pizza, wraps, melts, steaks, ribs, prime rib, chicken and fish.
The full-service bar offers beer from 16 tap handles, domestic bottled beer, wine and liquor.
The Silver Spike will offer bingo and trivia nights, with cornhole on the patio. There will also be charitable gaming to support Dilworth Legion baseball.
A grand opening celebration is planned for Oct. 3, with guitarist and singer Rick Adams providing entertainment, Knodel said.
Next to the Silver Spike a 7,500-square-foot, five-unit strip mall is nearing completion at 218 15th St. NE., Knodel said, which is expected to add some retail and commercial opportunities to Dilworth’s east side to serve nearby housing developments.
Hours are 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. daily, with the kitchen open 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.
The Silver Spike's Facebook page is silverspikedilworth.
“It’s been a process getting it going …. But we’re excited,” Knodel said.
