FARGO - Another Chase Bank is in the works for south Fargo.

JPMorgan Chase plans to convert the Village Inn restaurant at 3140 25th St. S. into a third Fargo branch bank. The conversion is planned for completion late in the third quarter of this year, in the September/October time period, a JPMorgan Chase spokeswoman said.

It’s not clear what will become of Village Inn in Fargo, though service continues at the current location.

“It’s a done deal,” Darcy Donahoe-Wilmot said Wednesday, Feb. 17. “This new location will provide us with a terrific space to meet with clients about investments, mortgages, and small business services.”

Three Chase Banks are planned for Fargo, Donahoe-Wilmot said.

The first of those banks is under construction at 4330 13th Ave. S., at the former location of Pier 1. It is expected to open in the second quarter of this year.

Another Chase Bank is planned in the heart of downtown, in the former location of the King House Buffet at 122 Broadway. It is scheduled to open in September 2021. The remodeling of that building's first floor is expected to cost $800,000.

Minot-based Hospitality Management and Integration counts the Fargo and Moorhead Village Inn restaurants among its assets.

Abe Sakak, a manager for HMI, said Tuesday, Feb 16, that he could not comment on what is planned for Village Inn on the Fargo side of the Red River. However, the Village Inn in Moorhead’s Holiday Mall will probably reopen in April or May.

“The good news is, we’re really working hard on remodeling, refreshing and coming back to the Moorhead location here soon,” Sakak said. “As we speak, they’re doing the refreshing: new booths, new covers, new carpets, for Moorhead Village Inn.”

The Moorhead restaurant at 940 Holiday Drive closed for a significant part of 2020, a victim of the economic fallout of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Our lives have been upside down. We’re hoping to come back to Moorhead strong again and be able to be strong again," Sakak said.

Donahoe-Wilmot said Chase is hiring staff to support the Fargo branches. Entry-level employees earn a minimum of $16/hour, plus benefits that include health care coverage and retirement savings.

“Our new branches will be built with modern design elements; intended to be open and collaborative, comfortable” for seamless customer service, Donahoe-Wilmot wrote. “They’ll also be much more energy efficient, reducing energy consumption by 15% and lighting-related consumption by 50%.”
