FARGO-A new women's clothing store has opened for business in the West Acres Shopping Center.
Dry Goods, a division of the Iowa-based Von Maur department store chain, opened Tuesday, May 15, in the the space formerly home to Aeropostale, which closed in December of 2016.
The store carries women's apparel, accessories, jewelry, giftables and shoes.
Lindsay Caltagirone, vice president of Dry Goods, said the store caters to young women between the ages of 18 and 35, but that it's not uncommon to see mothers and daughters shopping there together. She described the atmosphere as "girly, fun."
Caltagirone said the store receives new merchandise daily.
"The store is always evolving. We're definitely on trend," she said.
The Fargo store is the 31st location for the chain that does business primarily in the midwest.
When asked why they chose to open a store in Fargo, Caltagirone said Dry Goods has done really well in similar markets.
"I think there are a lot of young, fashionable women in Fargo. I think it's kind of an underserved market, and we just felt like we could fill a niche there," she said. "We tend to do well in those types of markets. We have several successful stores in Minnesota as well."
Alissa Adams, senior vice president of marketing and business development for West Acres, was excited to see the store open this week.
"From their unique merchandise and inviting store design to their attention to customer service, we are so excited to welcome Dry Goods to West Acres. We are focused on bringing in the best selection of stores and experiences to meet our customers' needs, and Dry Goods is a prime example of a retailer that delivers on all fronts," Adams said.
Dry Goods will celebrate its grand opening Saturday, May 19.
