FARGO — Another boutique has pulled up stakes along a stretch of Main Avenue in the midst of a two-year reconstruction project. Kittsona, a boutique featuring women's clothing and accessories as well as contemporary home decor, has moved from 610 Main Avenue to 23 8th Street S.
Manager Kalynne Malmskog said ongoing construction was definitely a factor, but the move also gave them an opportunity to rebrand the store.
"This space was available to us and the landlord let us do a full renovation and we were able to completely rebrand, which was an amazing opportunity," she said. "Parking is also a lot more available down on this corner. We have both a back lot and the front street."
Several other nearby boutiques have also closed or moved in the last year. Jessie Blue, formerly located at 716 Main Avenue, changed its name to Willow District and re-opened in The Shoppes at Blu Water Creek in April. PrimRose Boutique moved from 616 Main Ave. to 1115 9th St. E. in West Fargo in July. Voxxy, 612 Main Avenue., and Downtown Diva, 1 8th St., both closed in December as well.
The second phase of the Main Avenue project is expected to resume in mid-April, with a target completion date of October 2020.
Kittsona, formerly doing business as Kittson Boutique, opened at 610 Main Ave. in the summer of 2013. Owners Tessa Hiney and Nicole Johnson also own the Kittsona store in Grand Forks.
