The Fargo Retired Teachers Association will celebrate its 50th anniversary at 11:30 a.m. Oct. 7 at the Holiday Inn, Fargo.
The association, which began in 1960 with 14 charter members, currently has more than 150 members and meets monthly during the school year. The group provides volunteer service throughout the area as well as several scholarships to area high school and university students.
Co-presidents for 2010-2011 are Margaret Kelley and Jane Holtan.
This year, members have named Sharon Rezac as the recipient of the 2010 North Dakota Retired Teachers Association Silver Apple Award, given to a member who demonstrates outstanding service within each unit.
