It's so good, they're going to have another one.

Brother and sister Chuck and Nikki Dauk, who opened Fargo-Moorhead's first Culver's Frozen Custard Restaurant in August at 4615 13th Ave. S.W., are building a second ButterBurger outlet at the busy intersection of 25th Street and 32nd Avenue Southwest.

"I'm so excited," said Nikki Dauk, owner/operator of the Fargo Culver's properties.

The restaurants are being developed by Chuck Dauk's DF Holdings Inc., a Fargo-based company involved in convenience stores, automotive stores, fuel distribution, restaurants and real estate.

"The second location really fits our target demographics," said Chuck Dauk, president of DF Holdings. "It's in an area with lots of families and lots of neighborhoods."

Roer's Construction of Fargo breaks ground on the project, at 3197 25th Street South (directly in front of Sunmart Foods), May 6.

Chuck Dauk said the second location should open in August. Community First Bank of Fargo is financing the project. The Dauks closed a deal on the land this week.

Nikki Dauk said the second location will enhance the Culver's brand name in the Fargo-Moorhead market.

"It's a fairly unknown entity right now," she said. "A lot of our business is word of mouth. We have a lot of loyal customers who keep coming back.

Culver's was founded in 1984 in Sauk City, Wis., by the Culver family. The chain, today based in Prairie Du Sac, Wis., is up to 170 restaurants and expanding by about 40 a year right now.

Dede Heller, currently general manager of the existing site, will be general manager of the second location when it opens. Tina Olson will become general manager of the existing site when Heller moves over.

Both sites will employ approximately 50 people.

Culver's Frozen Custard Restaurants offer a variety of menu items made fresh to order from their patented ButterBurgers and frozen custard to sandwiches, chicken, fish, melts, salads, soups, cheese curds, onion rings, french fries, real mashed potatoes, coleslaw, desserts and more.

The Dauks said they anticipate they'll be building a third Culver's in the market. "We would expect to go into Moorhead as well," Chuck Dauk said.

"I think Fargo-Moorhead could handle a third Culver's," Nikki Dauk said. "But we're just focusing on our second one right now. I can only do one thing at a time."
