FARGO — Puzzled over how to disconnect from the internet, reconnect with your friends, family, and co-workers, and escape your everyday life? Puzzled Escape Rooms and Midwest Nest Magazine have the answer for you.
A new escape room, where participants match their wits against a themed locked room, is set to open at Puzzled Escape Rooms, 606 1st Ave. N. Suite 201 in downtown Fargo.
“Our escape rooms are fun, interactive experiences for friends, coworkers and the entire family,” said Kay Cameron, co-creator of Puzzled Escape Rooms. “Players search for clues, solve the puzzles, and try to complete the room mission in less than 60 minutes.”
“The Family Nest,” as the new room will be called, takes place in an upscale downtown apartment where family is gathered for a big holiday meal. Unfortunately, the turkey is missing and participants have an hour to find it before the other family members arrive for the meal.
A ribbon-cutting celebration will be held at 3 p.m. Jan. 31. Refreshments will be provided by Chef’s Table and Nicole’s Fine Pastries, and tours of Puzzled Escape Rooms will take place afterward.
The enterprise was created in partnership with Midwest Nest Magazine, the Fargo-based magazine that strives to empower and encourage readers to become more involved in the community by following their passions and supporting regional businesses.
Susan Hozak, publisher of Midwest Nest Magazine, discovered Puzzled Escape Rooms early on and has played all their rooms. She also had always wanted to create one of her own escapes.
"Kay and Steven put so much thought and creativity in their room builds and, in their business, and I really admired that,” said Hozak. “I reached out to Kay to see if they would want to partner up with Midwest Nest to create a fun room together, and ‘The Family Nest’ came to life."
Puzzled Escape Rooms opened in 2016. Interest in escape rooms has grown in the last few years, becoming popular with thrill-seekers, as well as team-building opportunities for businesses.
“Escape Rooms are a growing tourist attraction,” Cameron said. “People from all over the country come to Puzzled Escape Rooms on escape room tourism trips specifically to play as many of our escape rooms as possible.”
