FARGO — Barks & Recreation, a doggie daycare and boarding facility at 5126 51st Ave. S., announced in a Facebook post Monday, Feb. 24, that it was closing its doors.

"It's with heavy hearts we must announce we are CLOSING our PET RESORT doors (daycare & lodging) tomorrow, Tuesday 2/25. We apologize for any inconvenience this may pose to you & your fur kids," the post read.

In-home petting sitting services, where the business got its start, will remain active, according to the post.

Owners Ashley Hahn and Deborah Hemstad launched the business over three years ago and opened the 9,000-square-foot facility in April of 2019.

Hahn and Hemstad thanked customers for their business and blamed the decision to close on road construction and a number of other circumstances.

"Thank you for all your continued support & business along this wonderful journey. Unfortunately, due to the untimeliness of road construction among other circumstances we were unable to keep our doors open any longer," the post read.
