MOORHEAD - Twenty Below Coffee Co. is getting closer to opening its next location in the Comstock Commons near Concordia College and Minnesota State University Moorhead.
A Sept. 30 Facebook post said the firm is hiring for positions at 600 8th St. S., but one of the local coffee shop’s owners said a firm opening date hasn’t been set.
“You know, we’re not sure yet. You can stay posted. When we know, we’ll put it out on Instagram,” Ty Ford said Monday, Oct. 5.
Fit-up for the coffee shop on the north side of the first floor of Comstock Commons appears well along, with ovens and other fixtures apparently installed or ready to install.
Ford said Twenty Below plans to continue to operate its downtown Fargo shop at 14 Roberts Street N., too. That shop opened in 2015.
Twenty Below Coffee’s other owners are Elisha Ford and Danae and Mike Moran.
The plan to open the company’s second location in Comstock Commons was announced just over a year ago. At that time, it was thought that the new store would be open early in 2020.

Ford said that the onset of the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic set those plans back not a little bit, but “a lot a bit.”
The Comstock Commons shop will have a drive-up ordering window on the east side of the building. There is a small play corner area, too, though use of the play corner might require some creativity or waiting until the pandemic is ended, Ford said.
