FARGO — The West Acres mall officially reopened its doors Friday, May 8, and hundreds of customers came throughout the day.
Dozens came by within the first hour, and while some shoppers wore a face mask, others chose not to while keeping their distance from others.
Some stores, like Almost Famous Body Piercing, were offering temporary masks to wear inside the store to customers who didn't have one.
Chris Heaton, the senior vice president of property management, said he was a little surprised by the turnout on day one.

"I think it means that people are excited that we're open and they're able to come out," he said. "(They) maybe (had) a little bit of cabin fever."
Employees in all stores and on the sales floor were required to wear masks, while shoppers were encouraged to do the same.
Only 20 of the mall's 100-plus stores reopened for business, with all-new social distancing guidelines in place.
The mall will give updates on which stores will be open on its website.
