FARGO - The 2018 Fargo North High School Hall of Fame induction ceremony and luncheon will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 15 at the North Dakota State University Alumni Center on campus.
Tickets are $17 each and are available through Tuesday, Sept. 4. Tickets can be purchased by calling 701-446-2405 or by stopping by the North High School office, 801 17th Ave. N.
Two North High alumni and two former faculty members make up this year's Hall of Fame class. They include:
• Sharon (Mickelson) Bergh, retired faculty member. She taught Spanish at North for more than 20 years before retiring in 2004. In addition to her contributions in the classroom, she served as co-advisor of Club International. In 2004, Sharon was recognized by Student Council as "Teacher of the Year."
• David A. Christensen, class of 1986. He was a member of North's state championship swim teams in 1984, 1985 and 1986 and earned seven individual state titles. He was part of several state, conference and pool/school records during his career. After earning an undergraduate degree at North Dakota State University, he earned his Master's Degree from Central Michigan University, before serving 20 years in the U.S. Army.
• Steve Lemke, class of 1979. He was a two-year starter and letter winner in basketball in addition to earning letters in track and field. He continued his track career at South Dakota State University, where he earned All-American honors as a javelin thrower. He is a 31-year veteran of the collegiate and international coaching ranks and is the associate head throwing coach at the University of Florida.
• Dave Heide, retired faculty member. He began coaching and teaching at Fargo North in the fall of 1969, where he stayed until his retirement in 2002. During his coaching career, Dave coached football, basketball, boys swimming, track and junior high volleyball. He was part of the coaching staff on football, basketball and swimming state championship teams.
