FARGO — The Fargo Native American Commission is accepting nominations for the Gladys Ray Indigenous Peoples Day Award.

Nominees should be individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the Indigenous people of Fargo.

The person chosen for the award will be formally recognized during Indigenous Peoples Day on Monday, Oct. 11.

The deadline for returning nomination forms is Friday, Sept. 24.

The Gladys Ray Award was created in honor of Gladys Shingobe Ray, a lifelong human rights advocate and volunteer who served her community through involvement in many organizations and by assisting in the development of many programs.

Ray advocated for all people, especially American Indians, children and the homeless.

To nominate someone for the award, complete a nomination form and email it to Planning@FargoND.gov, or return hard copies to the City of Fargo Planning Department at 225 4th St. N., Fargo, no later than Sept. 24.
